Re: Dick & Jenny's

I would give them another try. We went with a group for a birthday dinner about a week ago and everything was great. I had seared scallops and shrimp over cauliflower puree topped with a citrus salad. Simple and delicious. Everyone else seemed to like their meals and appetizers as well. The service ...

Re: Eagle Rare 17 Year Old

I have the pleasure of doing a shot of Jeremiah Weed, a terrible 100 proof bourbon liquor, at least once a week at work. Damn traditions. Does that count? Where do you work? I bought the Eagle Rare for my fiance and he loved it. I thought he'd never forgive me for using the last of it to make "...

Re: Any Tea Drinkers Out There?

For me the difference is from brewing loose tea leaves in a teapot vs. tea bags. Hong Kong Market has a tremendous selection of lose teas. I've got a nice Oolong and some Chinese Gunpowder (green tea.) Genmaicha is a lovely nutty green tea with toasted rice. Twining's English Breakfast is a good bas...

Frugal Times Adjustments

I have actually been on a budget for the past couple of years, but wondering if the economy has changed your shopping and/ or eating habits. I did just drop about $300 at Dorignac's on Saturday, but... In the past couple of months I have been making some sort of crock pot bean concoction each week, ...

Re: My stomach hates me

My birthday week was like that... I recommend drinking lots of water, eating lots of fruits and veggies, keep the fat intake to minimum (olive oil over butter) if you must eat meat, make it lean: fish or chicken... and skip the booze for at least a day or two... Then you can start over!

Re: Date night on a budget

Well... we ended up going to Gato Negro. I had read some good things about it lately, we hadn't been since they first opened and thought we'd give it another try. Then we'd have the Quarter or Marigny to stroll about. My fiance ordered some cheesy chorizo appetizer dip and a Bohemia. It was ok. I wa...

Re: Date night on a budget

Ah, we used to live right by Fellini's... good times. I love Crepe Nanou, but my fiance, not so much. You have both got me percolating, thanks! ---------- Post added at 03:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:29 PM ---------- Go to LaBoca and share the skirt steak and the gnocchi..or the fries. ...

Date night on a budget

Need an inexpensive, yet tasty and quasi- romantic place for dinner tonight. Must serve beer/wine and preferably cocktails. I'd like to be able to take a stroll after dinner. Any thoughts?

Re: Is it possible to eat a piece of king cake

Angela from Voo Dough Bakery makes good King Cakes. Great dense texture and not too sweet. She fills them by request.
