You hate Jacques-Imo's and like THIS place? And for a rueben? You got it in one! Jacques-Imo's serves garbage, while LbtT serves a damn good REU ben*. I wouldn't stand in line for three hours or sit in the bed of a pickup truck to eat it, though. *I assume that's what you were talking abou...

Re: Lakeside Mall is the Ugliest Behemoth I've Ever Seen
I understood the original Gentilly/Plaza comment to mean not "Gentilly was turned into a pile of rubble just like the Plaza," but "Gentilly, like the Plaza, was overrun by black people and thus became undesirable." Was I mistaken?

Liuzza's by the Track Reuben -- I Still Feel the Love
The first time we went to Liuzza's by the Track post-K, they weren't serving the Reuben yet, so we decided to eat elsewhere. We weren't nasty about it, but that sandwich (along with the occasional side of potato salad) was about the only reason we ever went there. Other things on their menu were OK,...

Re: Do you miss Chef Chris Debarr?
Mrs. Fury, don't worry, I have kept Chris up-to-date on all the praise for him and drama concerning his former place of employment. He is amused by the drama but also saddened by it, since there was absolutely no need for things to turn out this way. The Delachaise may or may not continue to succeed...

Re: Do you miss Chef Chris Debarr?
I can't tell you how many times I recommended Delachaise only to get it shot down . . . "I'd love to eat Chef Chris' food . . . but there's no way I'm going to Delachaise" would be the frequent reply. I can't tell you how many times I heard that same response. Hell, I said it plenty of ti...

Re: Do you miss Chef Chris Debarr?
Thanks, Nanette! I think I probably owe Stephen King some credit for that line. He's well-known for horror, but very underrated when it comes to quality insults. More drama may or may not follow; it's really up to Evan and Ed. They can pay Chris what they owe him, shut up about us, and never hear fr...

Re: Do you miss Chef Chris Debarr?
Isabella, here is a writeup of Chris' tiki dinner I thought you might enjoy: http://blogofneworleans.com/blog/2008/07/18/tales-of-the-cocktail-goes-tiki/ Unfortunately, elsewhere on this same blog, commenters we believe to be ... well, let's just say intimately connected with the Delachaise seem to ...

Re: Do you miss Chef Chris Debarr?
I'd be very interested in his cooking classes. Would he be willing to keep us updated here? Chris doesn't really do the message-board thing (just one of the many ways in which he is the smart one in our relationship). I'll try to post updates here, but I also go through Internet-phobic phases, so i...

They have some nice milder sauces, too. But I do love my heat.
