Do you miss Chef Chris Debarr?

Because if you do...I suggest you head over to the Country Club this weekend. He's there all weekend extending his Freaky Tiki Menu. As you know, he was there for the Spirited dinner Thursday night. From what I understand they ordered so much food and had so much fun that they are extending Chef Chris's stay all weekend. He was there for a private party last night, that from all accounts, was kick ass and the food was fantastic, got better every course.

So anyway, there's a Freaky Tiki menu this weekend. I had the shrimp dish for lunch today, and it was yummy.

Chris has been talking to people about some interesting possibilities. Right now his only semi-definite plans are to teach some classes at the cooking school on Bayou Road, no dates set yet. You can keep up with his goings-on here:

Chris doesn't really do the message-board thing (just one of the many ways in which he is the smart one in our relationship). I'll try to post updates here, but I also go through Internet-phobic phases, so it would probably be a good idea to check his blog once in a while.

Unfortunately, elsewhere on this same blog, commenters we believe to be ... well, let's just say intimately connected with the Delachaise seem to be trying to cut their losses by taking thinly disguised potshots at Chris and making completely non-food-related attacks on our personal life ( http://blogofneworleans.com/blog/2008/0 ... mment-2653 ). Given what a great opportunity the job was for Chris and how much he did for them, I'm sorry that they've chosen to sink to such a level. (I'm also a little surprised that they've been stupid enough to do it, given that they have seen my posts on the various food forums and know that I am perfectly capable of besting them on that level.)

I was so sorry to hear of Chef Chris leaving Delachaise. I was/am a big fan of his food, although not necesarily the place. I anxiously await word on his next project and if he decides to give cooking classes, count me in!
