After hitting the track, we landed at Cooter Browns and it was perfect. You can still smoke in there but no one was around us.
Oysters are $8.50/doz...and a pint wasn't much less than that.
Anyway, it hit the spot.
Thanks for all of the replies.

I wanna go! My new office is a block away!
I'm not there everyday tho, so give me a little notice.
After Tues is better. Are they open on Monday?

After watching Man vs Food, New Orleans edition, we had another hankering. (He ate 15 dozen at Acme.)

So, after enjoying the weather over golf at Lakewood, we headed over to Salvo's in Belle Chasse.
We took advantage of the deal: $4.50/dozen! I think they were pre-shucked but they were still great.

I've been to the Red Maple a couple of times for their special...including last THursday. They are good...small...but good.

I've also been to a place in Harahan that has quarter oysters on Tuesday and THursday and they were really good. But I can't remember the name of the place. Dockside...I think.

I've always wanted to hit the Friday special at Le Bon Temps. Is it crazy crowded or can you actually get a couple of dozen?

Luke's happy hour is outstanding. A little slow on the service but for 25 cents per oyster, no complaints. Plus, it's EVERY day.

All the times I've gone I've stood in line for a 10 minutes or so for 3 oysters. Ok if you were going anyway and you're just kicking back with a beer and not really hungry. I wouldn't go out of my way for it though.

My neighbors' back yard!!! Haha... He got 2 sacks for the game Sunday over in Westwego for about 40 bucks. Chargrilled and raw. Another friend makes a great sauce for them with shallots, vinegar and cilantro.
I like mine with a squeeze of lemon and some Tabasco!
Damn they're good right now!

Is Luke's HH crowded? Slow is not a sin, but a friend wants me to meet him at Luke's & I just really am not into a super crowded HH. Any other specials besides oysters?

Yes Luke gets crowded for happy hour...and it's very slow...so be sure you have enough time. I've been 3 times in the past three weeks and the service was bad every time and I've heard similar issues with almost everyone I've talked to. But again...those oysters are worth the slowness and service issues.

For a barometer of moronic thought in this country, read some of the ignorant comments on this story. Amazing.
