I get to meet Bourdain
I get to meet Bourdain
I had mentioned this a while back but the time is finally here. Most of you have read my bragging about my nephew in The Woodlands who is a chef. He's cooking for a charity wine dinner where Anthony Bourdain is the host. Kent Rathbun will be there as well... for those who don't know him, he and his brother beat the heck out of Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America cooking elk.
The school the dinner is for called me last week and I actually won the drawing for one of the seats at Bourdain's table. It's a table for 18 but the dinner is for 200 so I'm pretty lucky!
There is going to be a cocktail party and then a 4 course dinner. I'm a little nervous about not knowing anyone there but the staff there has always made me feel comfortable when I visit. I'm just so proud of my nephew that I couldn't pass up enjoying the dinner. I guess it's okay to share the menu now. I'm not sure what half these dishes are but I'm looking forward to tasting them. There will be champagne with the apps and then a different wine with each course. I'll post a report when I get back from Houston next week.
The chefs from Kent's other restaurants in Plano, Austin and Dallas are coming to help. I was hoping to meet Tre who was on Top Chef last year on Bravo but he has opened his own restaurant in Dallas now.

Awesome! I still think he's sort of hot(now that he looks to have gotten his teeth fixed)...I'd love to meet him. I'm jealous.

It'll make you less nervous. Or more hungry. I'm not sure which.
Anyway, you're welcome.

I posted that picture on the previous incarnation of the other forum (neworleans dot com) Someone said it wasn't him it was photo shopped.
That said, have a great time! Sounds fun.

Re: I get to meet Bourdain
Well it's not photoshopped. It was taken by a food photog and journalist Gastrotom. IMO it's too arrogant and bizarre to be anything but him.

Laura, that is fantastic news that you are 1 of 18!
I only wish I were going with you.
Argh! I had erased that photo from my brain & you had to post it!

Re: I get to meet Bourdain
My Sweetie and her Mom met him last year. They told me that he is very nice. One of my Christmas presents last year was a signed copy of his latest book and a picture of him hugging my Sweetie.
