Today's Lunch

Post by mgbeads »

Today I had the best fried oyster sandwich at Southern Po-Boy right off of Jefferson Hwy near Picadilly Cafeteria. Oysters were fried perfect and the french bread was heated just right. Southern Po-Boy is your typical neighbohood joint. I must have caught it just right for today's oysters.

I'm going to have to try that place.

I was on the Northshore for business. I went to Del Porto again for lunch.

Soup of the Day: Duck and Barley. It was duck stock, shredded meat, lots of barley with a few veggies. It was great. If they do it again, get it.

Tagliatelle with Marinara and Pecorino Cheese. Obviously fresh Marinara, good pasta and good cheese. What's not to like?

This is my second lunch visit and my second good meal. This place is turning into one of my favorites for my infrequent trips to the Northshore.

I too was at Del Porto for lunch. Wanted to try the soup, but didn't. I got the spaghetti with fennel sausage bolognese. I thought it was good, but not outstanding (it as maybe a bit too salty; I find when using good quality cheeses (Reggiano parmasean or Locutelli Romano) that they have enough salt element that little or no other salt is needed in the dish. I tried the mushroom rissotto (which someone at my table had) and it was very good. I will get thaat next time.

Leftover chili. Made it from scratch with dried pasilla chilis, lots of onions, chuck on the bone, a little chocolate and other good stuff.
Topped w/ diced raw white onions.

Lunch at Atlantis Casino Coffee Shop. SO wanted eggs - they serve breakfast 24/7. I had the Big Burger (12 oz), $8.95, with fries, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickel, plus two nice added slices of Canadian Bacon (+$.50).

Had to place my football bets. Sorry for picking PSU over Iowa in the other thread. I was looking at the PSU schedule I have, and didn't realize they have a by (bie, bye, whatever?) this week and that game isn't until Nov. 8th.
