August makes Gayot Top 40

Besh’s August makes Top 40 list
NEW ORLEANS — Chef John Besh’s Restaurant August has been ranked by Gayot.com’s annual listing as one of the Top 40 Best Restaurants in the U.S.
His is the only restaurant in Louisiana to make the list, available online at www.gayot.com/best-restaurants/finestrestaurantsusa.html.
“Chef John Besh’s Louisiana upbringing and knowledge of cutting-edge culinary trends enables him to compose menus that hold their own among the most stringent standards of fine dining,” Gayot’s review says in part. “Particularly in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Besh has committed himself to his community, and his inspired fresh focus has brought a sense of renewal to Restaurant August.”
It is the third consecutive year that Gayot has honored Restaurant August as one of its top 40, according to a Besh spokeswoman.
Restaurant August isn’t the only New Orleans restaurant recognized by Gayot, however. The Web site named Parkway Bakery & Tavern one of its Top 40 Cheap Eats in the U.S.•

From our lunch last Friday I'd have to say Gayot was spot on...Chef John Besh and his people are doing great things.
