Best meal last week in Orange Beach was at Geno's. Good crab soup. App of broiled shrimp that was very nice. Steak and a broiled snapper filet were great. While not perfect, considering the competition, this is about the only seafood place down there I feel comfortable recommending. Service was cheerful and attentive from the statuesque and svelte Olga from the Czech Republic. For some reason, a lot of waitresses on the coast in the last few years are from Eastern Europe.

Dinner Thursday night at the Shed in Ocean Springs: a plate of pulled pork and a rack of baby backs with some Abita...nothing but good. The wait at night is a lot longer that the times before when I have just done lunch, but you still get your order pretty promptly.

I couldn't agree more. Geno's is my all time favorite on the coast. We've been known to show up in Orange beach, dead tired, late at night... and without stopping at the condo, rush over there before they close. They've NEVER made us feel unwelcomed or rushed.

I think between my husband and I, we've tried everything on the menu. The fish is SO fresh. Of course, no one fries seafood like we do, but you have to accept that going in, and adjust your ordering.

I highly recommend the seared scallop appetizer. I raved about it so much the chef came over and gave me some tips.

Another thing we really enjoy is the smoked trout salad. Their steaks and steak dishes are terrific too.

Another place we enjoy, especially when the weather is cooler and we can sit outside is a place called Gulf Shore Steamer, or something like that... in a strip mall where the highway meets the beach road. I love me some steamed Royal Reds!

I'm still curious about the location of the former Trilby's/Germaine's/Chandler's on Bienville Blvd. (US 90) in Ocean Springs, MS. Is it still in operation and is it still a very nice place to stop for lunch? We're planning to visit the Walter Anderson Museum soon and would like to find a nice place to eat in the area (NO, not a casino).

Could be. I'm just gathering information right now. The The Walter Anderson museum is open. Shearwater Pottery is back in business.

Thanks, E.C. I called the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce and learned that Chandler's was taken over by Alberti's Italian Restaurant (Formerly located in Biloxi). They also stated that Shearwater Pottery has been rebuilt in its original location and is beautifully restored.

My Dad used to take us to Trilby's everytime we'd go to Bilouxi. I remember that place, it was a terrific restaurant.
