Group: I tried having lunch at Joey K's today. I failed. Here's how.
12:00 I arrive
12:05 I am seated
12:15 Order taken- A simple plate- roast turkey, stuffing, yams, etc. None prepared a la minute
12:45 I ask about my order- She'll check
1:00 I ask about my order- She'll check
1:15 I ask about my order- She'll check
1:20 I tell her I'm out of time and have to go back to work. I try to leave.
They hand me a check for $2.00 for my iced tea. I'm appalled. They sense this and "offer to comp the tea since we still don't know what happened to your order"
I leave, never to return, ever, for any reason. (Despite having eaten there before. The food isn't good enough to me for this.)
Is it just me or is trying to charge for the iced tea unreasonable in this instance?
Has this happened to anyone else here?
Am I being unreasonable on a weekday?

Jshushan, you've hit on my pet peeve. Especially at lunch, things should move efficiently. If the kitchen's having some sort of meltdown, the server needs to communicate with you: "sorry, sir, we just ran out of yams and the kitchen is making more. do you have time to wait, or can we offer you something else?"
An hour and 20 minutes is ridiculous, even for NOLA.

You waited an hour longer than I would have.

Is it just me or is trying to charge for the iced tea unreasonable in this instance? Appalling, but think about it..... If they let you sit there for an 80 minutes without saying anything, what makes you think that they will put 2 +2 together to comp your tea? I'm afraid you weren't dealing with someone who had enough common sense.
Has this happened to anyone else here? Not at Joey K's recently, but it's been a very long time since I've been. Last experience was negligent, not as much as yours, but enough to make me not want to go back.
Am I being unreasonable on a weekday? Absolutely not! If it were me, I'd have to call & talk to someone in mgmt or owner about it. Who owns Joey K's these days anyway?
