Brand of green curry soup
Brand of green curry soup
Still trying to find a certain brand of canned green curry soup that we had purchased at Hong Kong Market in Gretna once. It is not Maestri or Aroy-D. It comes in a smallish can. We use it for a base for green curry chicken. It is not a green curry paste, it is a soup that comes in both green and red varieties. If anyone goes to Hong Kong Market or any other Asian market and sees any other brand of green curry soup other than the two listed above, please post the brand names. We have not been able to find that stuff anywhere other than Hong Kong Market and a place in Houston. PeteV checked in Gretna for us last year, but they had no more. We looked there too and could not find it. The empty space on the shelf was there, but no soup. We cannot remember the brand name to be able to search for it online. Thanks.

Blue Dragon?
"I find the pastrami to be the most sensual of all the salted cured meats. Hungry?"
Re: Brand of green curry soup
No, but thank you very much. That is one we had not seen. Will have to try it. The one we are looking for is the only one that has tasted good to us so far. Thanks.

Re: Brand of green curry soup
Sorry I can't help you with the curry, but I will say what has proven helpful to me in these circumstances.
After learning this once the hard way (I think it was Georges that did in my absolute fav Indian spice mix & they don't make it anymore), if I ever buy a jar or can of seasoning, sauce etc that I love, I take the label off & file it away in a special file I have for this sort of thing.
This way I have the name, list of ingredients (in case they stop making it), and hopefully an address, phone, website, etc . . .
I'll check next time I go to Hong Kong.

If Hong Kong no longer has it, try browsing the shelves at International Market off of Cleary (mostly south asian stuff, but some SE Asian/Chinese ingredients, too) or Asian Gourmet Market on Williams (primarily Japanese, but pan-Asian as well).

Thank you for your suggestions. The empty space on the shelf where the soup was previously was still there the last time we checked last year, just no soup. It was on the top shelf in the curry soup section. Thanks.

Found it! The brand is "Best Spoon." We roast a chicken, it is really steamed and roasted simultaneously, then use the vegetables from the roasting and seperately sauteed onions added to the soup in a large sauce pan to prpeare our green curry chicken. We cut the chicken into pieces as soon as it is finished roasting and cook it for a few minutes in the green curry soup sauce. We serve it over jasmine rice. We found the soup in a regular sized can at Hong Kong market the other day.
