I need to run to Baton Rouge tonight & figure I might as well have a nice dinner while I'm there.
I recall Juban's being mentioned & of course there's India's.
My thoughts are not on maps at the moment. I'll be in the Bluebonnet area.
What would you recommend? It can be simple or not, either is fine. Probably someplace in the middle is best & of course open on Monday!
I'll check in when I arrive in 90 min (hopefully).
Thanks Y'all!

Hope you had a safe ride up here. Idea for the heart of the Bluebonnet area: try "Perkins Rowe", our fancy new Traditional Neighborhood Development (shopping center with apartments on top). Yes the several restaurants inside are chains, but of a higher cut. And the "main street" is an enjoyable walk. Corner of Bluebonnet and Perkins.

I'm not all that familiar with that area, Isa... but there's a fantastic Greek place on Perkins, right next door to the tv station that WWL evacuated to... is it called WLPN? It's the public broadcast of LA station.... geez, my memory is GONE.
But I sure remember that fabulous food! Not expensive, either. Clean and nice service, pretty surroundings... and GREAT SWARMA!

Would that place be Roman's? Perkins just south of Essen, in front of Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB: "All Beth Courtney, all the time"). Next door is Sushi Yama, not much to look at in terms of decor but pretty good sushi. There is some construction on Perkins between Essen and Bluebonnet, beware.

I did not see a sushi joint, but I did see Albasha on the way to the client's office. We took longer than expected & it was 9:10p when I checked in here to see what was recommended. Pretty late to be checking out new places on a school night.
So we were going to go to Albasha when I decided to give India's a call.
They were closing in 20 min, but the owner insisted that we come in.
I did not want to go that close to closing, but again they were pleasantly insistent. So we did. OMG! The whole meal was fantastic from the lamb saag to the chicken shahi korma to the garlic naan & mango lassis.
The kheer was very good too!
It had been quite some time since I had been to India's. I so wish we had better Indian food in New Orleans.

I have no idea why I do not see an edit key, but alas . . .
In the previous post, I meant to say THANK YOU! to Dr. T & JudiB for your insights.
I had a blowout before I left town, glad it didn't happen on the road.
Thanks for your safe wishes, Dr. T!
