Help with kitchen appliances

Post by Double M »

Getting ready to re do the kitchen with new appliances. Would like your input on the following:

Double Oven: Am considering a Wolf, Electrolux, and a GE Profile

Dish washer: Bosch, Electrolux or Whirlpool

Warming Drawer: Is this really necessary?

Wife and I have new (18 months) GE Free Standing Gass Range. We like to cook with gas.

But..... She hates cleaning the stove top.....the grates, the center burner thingies, and the trays. If we did it again, we would surely consider a "completely flat top" range with no cracks or spaces. Just wipe the top down.

We lived in England for three years a while back. While kitchens and appliances were more simplistic, every kitchen had a "plate warmer" rack. I really miss that and wish I had one.

I had a GE profile refrig. awhile back and it was a piece of crap. Wouldn't take GE for free (well maybe if it were free). I have Fisher and Paykel dish drawers in both of my homes. Like having 2 dishwashers in the space of one. Only drawback is that large platters do not fit. Both homes also have duel fuel ranges with continuous grates. This is a big plus. I don't make much use of the warming drawer. Invest in a good venthood. Check internet prices. I bought some of my appliances on the net and saved a LOT, even with the shipping cost (which can be offset by no tax).

Thanks for the input on your appliances. I bought a replacement Sub Zero refrigerator after Katrina and that is just great. I am replacing my current Jenn Air cook top/down draft with another Jenn Air...original one is 20 years old and still works, just needs a current look.

So, my indecision is narrowly focused on the double electric oven, warming drawer and dishwasher.

I looked at the Kitchen Aid double drawer dishwasher, liked the height of the top one and the option to mount them side by side, but I just did not think I could put all of my stuff in it. Thanks for the heads up about platters.
