Money Hill Abita Springs
Money Hill Abita Springs
Just found out that a favorite chef of mine, Charlotte Newell, is now at Money Hill Golf Club in Abita Springs. She had been cooking at Confusion in Gulfport. Anybody been to Money Hill? How's the food?

Re: Money Hill Abita Springs
The name of the area alone would lead me to give it a miss. How tacky.
Re: Money Hill Abita Springs
It's been there forever (seems like). The first waterslide I ever went to was at Money Hill, and that was 25 years ago - before foam mats and other various safety regulations. I'm quite sure it was very unsafe back then, but we had a blast!!
Re: Money Hill Abita Springs
It really is not quite the upscale snobby area that the name implies. It is out in the country north of Abita. The name has a long history that I can't rememver now.
You could probably find quite a few more snobby people to make fun of in various hoods in Mandeville if you wanted too.

Re: Money Hill Abita Springs
It took me a while to realize this said MONEY Hill and not MONKEY Hill like I have been seeing..........

I think they are referring to the golf/home community that was built in the late 90's, I think you may be thinking of someplace else.
Re: Money Hill Abita Springs
Christine, they are one in the same. Money Hill has been owned by the Goodyear family for quite a long time. Portions of the original Money Hill property have been developed as subdivisions over the years (Whipporhill Grove in the late 1980's and Money Hill in the late 1990's. The southern portions of the property had been operated as a campground in the 1970's (I worked there in 1974-5,as a hihg school student) to early 1980's. The water slide came after my stint there.cstoehr wrote:???

I never knew there was a water slide! (apologies buzd). That is the place they hold the memorial golf tournament every year and I guess I never went farther into it.
