Times Picayune sandwich blogger
Has no one told this fellow the concept of a half sour pickle. In two seperate posts he has denigrated them as not being pickled enough. I happen to love them and if he does not fine. But I think anyone exploring the deli culture would know about them. He just calls them bad and a mistake.

His thoughts lead me to believe that he has never been to NYC. He should visit The Pickle Guys store for a pickle primer.

I can't find that blog at Nola.com. Can someone post a link? Thanks in advance.

NEW DILLS!
By Strubbs and many other good pickle makers. Half sour, bright green, crunchy, and delicious.
Funny thing here, The Atlantis Hotel Casino, my favorite (fantastic new poker room bam bam), opened a new addition three weeks ago with more casino space, new ballroom, meeting rooms, the NAPA BISTRO restaurant, and a MANHATTAN (Jewish) DELI. I've eaten there at least a dozen times since the opening, and my (almost) only complaint (and that of many other fans of the "deli") is no NEW DILLS. When you are seated, they place a dish on the table containing great (regular) dill pickles, as well as pickled carrots, onions, peppers, culiflower, but no NEW DILLS. They have a great selection of apps, sandwiches (some 6" thick), and entrees. I and many others are trying to get NEW DILLS added, if not to the pickle "plate", at least as a "side".

Pickles aren't the only thing this guy is clueless about! Applesauce was exactly the first thing I thought about being served with the latkes. The side dish we shared of potato latkes (flattened potato cakes) was some quality food also. They came with applesauce, and while you might not think of applesauce as being the first thing you'd want drizzled on your potatoes, the mix was a good one
