This e-mail re: future plans for Martin Wine Center (Uptown) came today. The properties described in the referenced attachment are the old Martin's bldg. and nearby structures. I will try to attend and get more information:
Dear Freret Friends & Neighbors,
Important meeting tonight with Delachaise Neighborhood association – Mr. Martin from Martin’s Wine Cellar will present his project to demo and renovate several properties in the Milan area as part of an overall plan to return his business to the neighborhood. The meeting will take place at Stern Tennis Center at 7pm – we hope to see you there to learn more and share your ideas! The plan goes before the Neighborhood Conservation District Committee on Monday to decide whether Mr. Martin may proceed with his plans to demolish several buildings in the Milan neighborhood.
Read the attached agenda to see which properties Mr. Martin is requesting be approved for demolition, and come to the meeting tonight to learn more.
Future plans for Martin's Uptown
Re: Future plans for Martin's Uptown
The new bldg. will span the length of the block on Baronne between Peniston and Gen. Taylor. The bldg. will be oriented such that the entrance will not be on Baronne, but rather on the lake side of the bldg. There will be a large parking lot spanning the block, If I heard Cedric correctly, the bldg. will be mostly one-story, but there will be a portion that is on the second floor for tastings, etc. analogous to the Metairie store. Time frames were really not discussed. There was limited discussion of plans for additional property Cedric owns on the other side of General Taylor that he wants to develop. There was strong support from the neighborhood association for the main store project. Stacy Head was present and this project unsurprisingly has her support as well. The final project should be a great addition to Uptown and a larger, better enterprise than what it will be replacing.

Fabulous! Thank you, G! I live within crawling distance of Martin in Metairie, but I will visit the Baronne location when the time comes. Yay, Cedric and Stacy, too!
