Yeah. The cream cheese filled. That's right.

I wish I had the adjectives in my tired brain to tell you how annoying Bam at Rouse's buying a King Cake can be...but alas, I don't.

I must say I've been quite impressed by them. They're very good. Def not the typical grocery store bakery stuff!
Re: King Cake from Rouse's
Rouse's has great cakes. I am picking one up from Sucre today because someone raved about them, so we'll see. Also, I saw some Swiss Bakery King Cakes at CVS on Prytania that looked awesome. I regret not grabbing one.

Robert Fresh Market's Voodoo king cake w/choc and coconut is killer.
After Mon & Tues, even the calendar says W-T-F!

I've had the Rouse and Swiss Confectionery. They are good but they all taste like a big cinnamon roll.... to me anyway.
I like kids. They taste like chicken.

WDSU held a contest in their office and a place called Sweet Savors on Elysian Fields won.

It's where the old Lawrence's Bakery (Mr Wedding Cake) used to be on the corner of Elysian Fields and Filmore, next to the Tea Garden Chinese restaurant in Gentilly.RouxTheDay wrote:WDSU held a contest in their office and a place called Sweet Savors on Elysian Fields won.

Haven't had their king cake, but the bakery items were nice the 2 or 3 times I went there. They also have lunch specials....

FYI, called to see what flavors they have, and they only have plain until 5, when they are expecting more (they are open till 6:30pm)
