Went to see Beyond All Boundaries and stopped in for lunch afterwards. Probably should have waited the requisite 6 months. Service was awful albeit entertaining watching the mishaps at the tables on either side. Table #1, waiter dumped pickle juice in diner's purse. Table #2, waiter brought diner wrong poboy 2 times. Finally got it right after the rest of her party had long since finished.
Food was mediocre (I'm being kind, it really sucked). Could food in a real canteen be much worse? Blackeyed peas were watery and tasteless. Garlic glazed fried chicken wings were like a slightly spicy "sweet and sour". Buster crab po boy was 2/3 lettuce, tomatoes, 1/3 crab. Short rib sloppy joe was greasy. Cheddar should have been left off. The flavors clashed. Onion rings were the thick variety, overly battered and soggy. Gumbo was mediocre and need some punch...couldn't manage to get our waiter's attention for some hot sauce... he was too busy screwing up.

Re: American Sector
Due to football, then mardi gras and everything else going on, I was kinda bummed I wouldn't have a Saturday to go to the Museum and to check out American Sector til around March...now, I'm ok with it.

You must have caught them on a bad day. I've had one good and one pretty good meal there. It's not intended as anything cutting edge. Think a menu aimed at the vets in their 80s and their kids and grandkids and you've got the idea. I like it for what it is. I'll try it a third time, especially with free parking across the street.

I agree. Our whole party left happy. We were there for dinner. Fun place.jshushan wrote:You must have caught them on a bad day. I've had one good and one pretty good meal there. Agreed about the service. Though, I had lunch at the bar and the bartender did a fine job, I could see the table service was amatuer hour. Besh must be recruiting his waitstaff for American Sector and Domenica from Applebee's and Popeye's.jodyrah wrote: Service was awful albeit entertaining watching the mishaps at the tables on either side.
I found the food, however, to be quite good.
