Clicquot and I were with a group of friends Saturday night for Dirty Linen Night, then dinner afterwards at the Pelican Club.
My dinner was fantastic as usual there. I started off with the goat cheese salad on arugula and baby greens, grapefruit and creamy olive oil dressing. My husband had the normal escargot in casserole. He always gets that. Others at our table got the lump crabmeat and shrimp cakes and the seafood martini of lobster, shrimp and jumbo lump crabmeat. We ordered a bottle of J Chardonnay and a bottle of J Pinot Noir for the first courses.
For the entree, we brought from our celler two bottles of Franks Family Vineyard big ass cab..no, that's not the name, just what I call it. So rich and full of fruit. A real mouth popper. I had the trio of Duckling. Leg confit, pan seared breast and Asian BBQ duck with Loisiana citrus sauce and dirty rice. This dish is always a consistant winner and I can't bring myself to order something else every time I go there.
Others at our table got the Louisiana Cioppino--Gulf Shrimp and Fish, Scallops, Mussels on top a bed of Linguini with tomato basil sauce. It smelled so wonderful. I also saw a beautiful filet with truffled mashed potato, baby veggies and Bernaise Sauce.
I had the pleasure of meeting Uptown Kevin, his wife and his parents. How bizzaar. He recognized Clicquot and she introduced us. He and his family are so friendly. His parents seems intrigued that we "knew" each other and Clicquot from an internet food forum.
A very fun night.
