Brigtsen's

Post by Yvette »

Went to Brigtsen's last night. Really enjoyed it. I have not been in about a year and it was time to return.

Started with Shrimp Remoulade with Guacamole, deviled egg and Mirliton corn relish. This was my least liked dish. It just missed it on all counts. The shrimp even was a little mushy. Gave it to Mikie (aka my husband) he eats everything. I traded with him and took his Pulled pork with corn macque choux, griddlecake and pepper jelly glaze. Spectacular!!! Hit on all counts. The flavors melded together perfectly. I would order this again.

Entree was another perfect 10. Roasted Duck with cornbread dressing and tart dried cherry sauce. Done to the exact amount of crispyness on the skin and moist and tender on the inside.

Had two glasses of their Gain Bay Family Cabernet, Napa. Had the right amount of fruit and punch to go with my pulled pork. Then a bottle of Black Stallion from our cellar which went perfectly with the duck.

A very pleasant evening.

Aww, thanks. Black Stallion. What a cool name. One of my favorite books as a kid. Anyway, I like it better than Fat Bastard.

I have a dungeon! Does that count? But everyone probably does....:whip:

And you tell people you have a very good cask of Amontillado that you'd like them to try, I bet!

Or that you'll fix the "Chef's Special" if they'll just step into this walk in cooler you happen to have down there.

Oops, that kind of sounded kind of euphemistic.

Hadn't thought of that L.O. but a nice touch...

The walk in cooler is located in the Rumpus Room. The dungeon is more an S&M themed space. Although some drinks do need ice....

Although though it's been too long since my last appearance in NOLA, I still remember this dish, ordered by my SO, but shared with moi. Fortunately, she is a light eater. I had ordered the signature Brigtsen's Seafood Platter (aka the "Shell Beach Diet"), but the duck was superior. :toast:

I know that its their signature dish, but it is my least favorite of all things there, agree?
