Quick recap of this weekend's dining:
Coquette (Fri. Night): Was prepared for extreme dbaggery due to restaurant's current trendiness but was pleasantly surprised. Waiter brought over free champagne in honor of it being my first time to dine there. Also had a bacon infused cocktail which tasted like a fine Speyside scotch but was actually bourbon. Fig appetizer with fois gras was best item of the meal. Cochon du lait had a great flavor, bad presentation. Scallops were big and delicious.
Elizabeth's (Sat. Lunch): Very hungover but forced to make the trek from Uptown to the Bywater. I had not been to Elizabeth's since pre-K but this incarnation was even better than I remembered. Bloody Marys at the bar; when seated, we had boudin balls, praline bacon, and chicken livers. Grillades and grits made for an excellent brunch, although the duck hash waffle looked fantastic.
Parkway Bakery (Sun. Lunch): In anticipation of a golf outing at Bayou Oaks, dined on a Shrimp & Oyster poboy. Golf was lightning'd out but the poboys were lights out (get it??). Best poboy joint in the city right now.
La Thai (Sun. Dinner): Out of mussels, so we had the calamari and summer rolls for apps. Calamari were perfectly fried and served with kind of a sweet/sour sauce rather than red gravy...very good. Summer rolls with the peanut sauce are also highly recommended. Entree was the seafood curry, which included shrimp, crawfish, and softshell crab. Very very good.
