Puppy Drum at Rouse's

Post by Jerry »

Went to Rouse's on Power Sunday looking for fish to use for "fish cakes"
The Puppy Drum looked good and it was...the cakes came out great too
Just poached the fish a few minutes and used like crab...

The drum was about $6.50 a lb. for filets.

FWIW, I picked up some beautiful speckled trout fillets at WF Sat. $13.99 # then stopped at Rouses on Vets for some of their large shrimp. I noticed they also had spec fillets. Same price as WF only they looked awful.

You gotta look that fish in the eye...
Or, if no eye, then the filet's colors usually give a clue to being fresh.

How were those shrimp? I saw them and they looked like shrimp from way offshore.
