Restaurant on the Lake or River?

What would it take for N.O. to get a "good" place to eat on the lake or the river?
Hell, I was even happy to have a place like Jaegers and the dock to hang out at, even if I did not eat.

I know about the west end not having hurricane protection levee and all, but it seems that if someone wanted to invest in a place and go up like Rips in Mandeville, it would be popular.
I am also guessing that the NIMBY and preservationist, etc groups would never allow anything like that near the river in the city.

It's a lovely spot overlooking the Mississippi River in the old Bella Luna location.

The restaurant is divided into two sections. North Galvez and South Galvez. In North Galvez you stand on the corner, the waiters drive by and hand you a small package in exchange for cash. NOPD then stops you, runs a warrant check and then performs a search incident to arrest. When the police inquire as to your activities you reply "that was my baby mama, she just bringin' me lunch."

South Galvez is decorated like the BW Cooper, lots of 2006 model cars and satellite dishes. The only question is whether you can survive the beatdown.

I miss the old restaurants in West End. Agree, even if you didn't eat, having a brew looking at the sunset on the lake is magical.

Guess since Brunnings got burned twice, no one is willing to invest, risking losing it all with no compensation. But damn, it sure would be crowded till another big one hits.

and then there's the old parish lines and who gets what % of sales taxes on the revenue for F&B and then there's that parking charge issue. wasn't it JP that wanted the sales taxes, so OP decided to charge for parking. sigh...

Yvette, I started packing my own wine and noshed w/o all the worries while taking in the sunsets. there used to be some great tables around Lake Vista that were never used and right on the seawall to catch a good breeze.

And the Dock having spent so much money on that place and to see it get washed away probably did not help.

I think if someone were to be willing to build something on the land in West End, they could get insured. They would have to put it on the edge of where the parking lot currently is and go up like Rips, with strong concrete pillars. Of course that would involve getting the city to approve of such a deal and possible someone agreeing to fix the parking lot and that whole area around there up somewhat.
