my salad shooter died

Post by LauraMc »

Although my salad shooter has shot much more cheese for tacos than salad fixings over the past 10 years, it is one of our favorite gadgets. It croaked this evening while hubby was cooking.
I froogled it and the thing is nearly $50 now. We had the Presto version. I froogled electic shredders and saw there is a Hamilton Beach product that has a bowl attached that holds 6 cups. Anyone have any recs for a shredder/slicer?

I have two of them in my cabinet back home that have never been out of the box! I'll have to drag them out when I go visit Mom and bring them back down with me. It just always seemed so much trouble..figured that I could chop and grate things about as quickly.

Now, does anyone have anything nice to say about the turbo cooker or the pasta pot? Grins...when my son was younger..he loved buying Christmas gifts from infommercials!

I've never used one Laura, but on Sunday, saw Big Lots had one by Cusinart for about $50.

I'll bet one of your relatives has one in a cabinet that they've only used once.
Ask around before you buy one!

What about e-Bay? I saw quite a few in the $15-$20 range, with shipping.

Let it go Laura, just let it go....it's gone to the big "kitchen appliances I could not resist but never really needed to begin with" place in the sky....RIP....:covri:

Oh but no, I loved my salad shooter (expensive cheese grater). Or rather, my husband who does the cooking and washing does.
I don't like buying from eBay. A few times I have gotten really screwed.

Check out Amazon, won't be as cheap as eBay but they do have people writing reviews that I have found to be very helpful.

Just be sure to buy from longtime eBay sellers and ones with really good ratings. I shy away from newbies or those with moe than one or two negatives out of several hundred good ones. I've never been burned....
