Chef's Table At Emeril's Saturday Night
Chef's Table At Emeril's Saturday Night
Wow, for our first trip to Emeril we did it first class, six of us at the Chef's kitchen table with wine pairings. First course was oysters grilled on the half shell with bits of ham and a little cheese, perfectly done oysters with a 99 Champagne that drank like it was ten years older than it was.
Second course Bluefin sushi served with a glass of Sake, the very best I've had.
Third course was a huge seared scallop, perfectly seared on top of something I can not recall at this time, served with a very nice White Burgundy.
Fourth course was just great , sliced seared duck breast with a wine reduction, served with a very nice Barbaresco. We have not had a dish yet that did not make everybody happy.
Course number five was Prime ribeye steak grilled sliced and fanned out on the plate, served with a French Bordeaux that escapes memory at this point but perfectly done.
All of the wines opened were left on the table to finished as the meal went along. I know this seems over the top but I just enjoyed everything they brought out.
When deserts were brought out, there were many including eight different sorbets, banana cream pie, creme brulee, dark chocolate mousse cake with brandied cherries and bread pudding. A desert wine was served that now is well unable to be remembered but very good.
This experience far surpassed what I had in mind going in , which is a good thing. The meal lasted from 7:30 to after 11:00 and went by what seemed rather quickly, time flies when you're having fun.

We were there on Sat. as well. The rest. has been so good, it's become a weekly stop for us. Noticed your group at the chef's table and couldn't help but wonder: 1) what is the minimum number they will do this for, 2)what's the cost pp?,

Despite a couple of requests...I don't guess the OP is gonna tell us an approximate price of this. Looks like we'll need to call Emeril's to get that info.

I called Emeril's. The chef's table will accomodate 2- 6 or 7. Request the table when making your resv. If the table is available arrangements are made with the chef. The recptionist knew nothing else. I imagine the price is depends upon your choices. Perhaps you can set an upper price limit pp and work from there.
We've been dining there regularly for the past few months. Three of use generally order 5 or so apps/small/ not so small plates as table starters, followed by entrees and sometimes dessert. Never had a bad dish. Most were very good to outstanding. Though not a chef's table we get a nice sampling. Service is always good. We're always greeted with a "welcome back". Our last dinner, the manager came over, handed me his card saying "we like to take care of our locals, if you ever need anything, give me a call". Nice touch.... my husband was wondering if he'd paint our house.

Not meaning to offend, but costs are really based on what you want in the way of food and wine. As you can imagine, wine can run all over the place, I tend not to discuss what I personally spend because it may not have any basis in reality higher or lower. There were also other couples involved that may or may not appreciate me putting in public their spending habits. I did answer jodyrah's request in a IM. His information in the previous post is accurate but imo, anything over six would be crowded and may take away.nikinik wrote:Despite a couple of requests...I don't guess the OP is gonna tell us an approximate price of this. I was always under the impression that the "Chef's Table" was a fixed price, per person, and you were fed from a specific "chef's tasting menu", i.e. diners had very little choice of what showed up on the plate, with specific wine pairings, if desired. At least that's what I was told a few years back when I tried to get reservations for the Chef's table at Commanders (this is when Jamie Shannon was there).

First, it's the chef's bar (with barstools), not a table. About 8 seats that looks into the open kitchen. Quite a show. A waiter comes and you order off the regular menu, usually with the tasting menu included as an option. It's at least a 2 1/2 hour minimum experience. Just call and ask for it. It's first come, first served. Great experience (one night we were there Emeril was in the kitchen, all PO'd. Everyone there was uptight. Not a good time to be at the bar, but still interesting.) Wine list is very good.Dilfan wrote:I was always under the impression that the "Chef's Table" was a fixed price, per person, and you were fed from a specific "chef's tasting menu", i.e. diners had very little choice of what showed up on the plate, with specific wine pairings, if desired. From what I've heard from those who have done it, figure an average of about $150 per person, including wine pairings, tax & tip.nikinik wrote:Despite a couple of requests...I don't guess the OP is gonna tell us an approximate price of this. Looks like we'll need to call Emeril's to get that info.
