Another excellent meal at Emeril's

Post by jodyrah »

We've been to Emeril's about 6x in the past couple of months. Each meal was absolutely delicious. Friday night was no exception. Three of us ordered an assortment of "small" and "not so small" plates as table appetizers.

Rabbit fricasse...don't usually eat rabbit but WOW!
shrimp/tasso pie (think Natchitochies variation) big burst of flavor
oyster spinach gratin... in a light creamy sauce
daily oyster prep, wood grilled on 1/2 shell, light with subtle smoke
Abita Rootbeer Bacon Salad...so good I get this every time

Entrees: Andouille Crusted Redfish (x2) love this well composed dish
Moroccan Spiced Fish... son enjoyed this
Dessert: sticky toffee blueberry bread pudding w/white chocolate ice cream (x2). This was surprisingly light and really good.

Last time I was there, Emeril was there and he was none too happy. Must have had an incident in the kitchen because he was prowling around and growling at everyone. We sat at the chef's bar, so it was obvious.

We were warned by the server, "Do not speak to him or ask for his autograph." Like I gave a darn about that. I was there for the food, which was ok, but not exceptional. Everyone was uptight, and it showed.
