Where do you eat at home

Post by VaPhil »

The napkin thread got me thinking about this.
We tend to eat in front of the tv or on the porch 90% of the time. The dinning room is used for guests and special dinners.
How about you?

Hey Phil! Nice to see you. We eat on the couch. We probably use the dining room table once a year.
I like kids. They taste like chicken.

On my easy chair watching TV/video usually. Sometimes I just stand in the kitchen area and eat.

We eat on couch the most, but sometimes at our kitchen peninsula. Dining room table not so much.

We eat in front of the TV when it is just my wife and I. When we have company or family we generally eat at the dining room table for dinner and in the breakfast nook for other meals.

Glad you joined us here Phil! Welcome :)

If it's just me, I'll usually eat in the living room area on a TV tray while I'm checking my email and such. If even one other person is over to eat, dining room table.

A lot of times though, I have a nice lunch and just a dinner snack, so just picking something in the kitchen or such, no real 'fork and plate'.

If I go through the effort to make a fine meal, even if just for my self, I'll sit at the table. But it's kinda boring sitting in the dining room all by myself.

Always at my dining room table... but it's because of the way the house is arranged.

Some of you have been over here, so you understand. It's the most comfortable place to eat, and we can see the tv or hear the music if it's on.

We make it a point to try to have a family meal every night, at what could best be described as the "breakfast table", located in a small nook just off of the kitchen. The only time we use the dining room is when we have company for holidays. We also keep the TV off during meals (except in rare instances such as bad weather, breaking emergency news, etc.), and allow the answering machine to get the phone while we're eating.
I know it's old fashioned, but that's the way I was raised, and I believe that "family time" has fallen by the wayside in today's society, so I want my daughter to share that concept.

When it's just me and my wife, we eat on TV trays with the TV on while sitting on our lazyboy recliners. Even for very nice meals, with wine. Occasionally, when the weather permits, we will eat on the bistro table on the patio, especially if I'm grillin'.

If we have two additional people over, then we eat at the kitchen table. More than 4 and we'll use our dining room.
