F' em! Just go to the Tujague's stand right inside the main gate at Jackson Sq. You can get the greatest Brisket for only $4. I really enjoy it much more than the Rib Room's fare. Plus, you can give the extra buck you save as a tip to help the musicians.
Damn Oyster, that was harsh. I'm not in the food service business other than I love to eat and meet people. To be fair, Anthony did say it was a bitch, but that wasn't his main reason. He also said that last year he had lots of leftover meat that he didn't sell. Either way, I like his sandwich and was disappointed that it wasn't at the Fest.

Re: The $19 sandwich - He sells it in the dining room, on China, in an excellent setting, with full wait service, served with homemade potato chips. Who am I to call him a liar when he tells me this to my face. Personally, I wouldn't pay $19 anywhere for a sandwich. But I'm sure there are those who do.

And you really dissed me when you didn't comment on the oyster part of my post dude....

Looking forward to his NOWFE dinner.
Hey Flyinbayou,

I did drop your name when speaking with Anthony. You are lucky to have him help you. And come to find out he's friends with a couple of old chef buddies from of mine from high school who have since left the city.

We hung out at the Rib Room bar for much of the afternoon. Regardless of the price/quality issues involving the prime rib sandwich, I can say that the place was packed. We got there after the lunch rush but just in time to see Franz Ziblich chew out Leon Cannizzaro in one of the side booths off the bar. And there were a significant number of people ordering the sandwich.

I was told the chef wanted to do the booth, but hotel management did not.

I saw Tenney Flynn personally cooking shrimp etoufee at the GW Fins booth. I would have to reccomend anything I know he is cooking.

I highly reccomend the Abita Beers, especially the Jackamo IPA.

Friday was a great day. I had a crawfish pie and a meat pie from Mrs. Wheat. Also had muffuletta from Frank's. Also split a debris po-boy with FC, but forgot from whose booth. All were delicious, and all day thinking, what's not to love about this city.

Ma bad EAC! Didn't mean to be so harsh, just a long day (and tons of SOCO's with 2 oz floats) at the FQF. Again, it was an incredible task for Rib Room to cook, carry over to the booth, etc. No problemo! I don't blame him for his decision, the reasoning just didn't register as legit from the food service side. I don' think many misssed having it other than us die hard foodies on here that really knew what a jewel it was and missed it dearly! Also, since bam saw a more siginficant number being served at Rib Room as compared to the hoards at the food booths over the last few years...well, obviously it proves that he made the right choice. Just strange you don't see lines out the front door of the Rib Room as you do at all of the food booths.

And thanks for bringing up your luck at the oyster shucking! You are right, I totally missed it. You think you ate...what...3 or 4 dozen? Talk about the right place at the right time!

It doesn't get any better than that! ONLY in NOLA!

Cheers! And do not let any little ran drops stop any of you tomorrow. GO! If Anthony was stuck with extra meat last year with 3 days of sunshine, well, just think what vendors will be stuck with if tomorrow is a washout!

Humm...since it was "prime rib" and bam sees him pumping out sandwiches hand over fist on china...seems like would have been no problemo to push the excess inventory out in a weeks time. Oh, wait. Maybe he was selling a few today because of FQF? Come Monday...well...not so much. Maybe one? Possibly two? Yeah...two if bam brings C-note.

Had an excellent time out at the fest today. The beer lines were steady, but never too long and I was very pleased with the selection. If you can't find something you like out of the four choices Abita was putting out, you probably should'nt be drinking beer. As for me, I was digging the Jockamo IPA.
The food seemed to be selling well. I tried some pulled pork from the Joint and some jambalaya from Eat New Orleans and both were excellent. The Eat people said they sold out all they had yesterday and appeared to be well on the way today.

Thanks again Abita.

I missed them being at the fest.....I would have paid $10 for one of the them yesterday..........I was too lazy to go find them so just ate other things. We do festivals and it is a pain to schlep your stuff to the tents. (after you set them up of course) and then to rely on the people who say they will be there to help.....going back and forth getting stuff you need. It is a lot of hard work. BUT....maybe they will return next year. :)
