Reveillon at Antoines?

Post by NoNoNanette »

Hi guys-

There's 5 of us spending the night in the French Quarter next Monday. We're all very fond of Reveillon dinners, but the guys don't want to wear suits or jackets.

I see on Antoine's website that "jackets are preferred but not necessary".
(or something to that effect).

Would the guys be able to get away with dockers and a collared shirt? I'm thinking that a Monday isn't going to be mobbed.

In the 25 years I've been here, have never been to Antoine's, and thought that this might be a fun change from previous Reveillons at Commanders, Galatoires, Pelican Club, Bombay Club, Brennans (SUCKED), Begues, Bourbon House and Broussards.

Thanks for any honest feedback.... we're also considering Muriel's.

Go to Muriel's. Only Fatzmorris would shill for an aging dinosaur.

From NEWORLEANS.COM, here is SHEP'S Muriel Reveillon Report

Four of us went to Muriels for the Reveillon dinner on Sun night. I have never had a bad dinner in this place and Sunday night did not change that. Two had the duck and two had the short ribs, the confit rice with the ducks and the kumquats and chutney was just great. The wild mushroom risotto with the short ribs also outstanding. The citrus and crabmeat salad was our third course, really nice lump white crab with grapefruit, orange and meyer lemon slices was the third course. The second course was steamed mussels with bacon and two had the oyster chowder with 3 large flash fried oysters on top. A fourth course of bread pudding or creme brulee. $42 was a steal for this dinner. A bottle of Sancerre(one of my favorite whites of late) and a Hermitage Rhone red managed to make us spend a little more money but were they good. This was a good night.

Muriel's for sure. A bunch of us went last year and had a great time. Everything was very good and fun. I have friends who have gone this year and enjoyed it too.
