Which would you choose?

Post by justagirl »

I'm looking for something to eat before going to the Dome tomorrow night. I'm thinking apps/salads/small plates. I can't eat a heavy meal then go, I'd want a nap. Anyway, I'm thinking between these 4..or do you have a better idea...

Herbsaint, they have the bistro menu til 5.30 or their dinner menu starting at 5.30.
Ramblas, similar to Herbsaint, a grazing menu til 5.30 and their dinner menu at 5.30.
MiLa, they open for dinner at 5.30.
Bayona, but they don't open til 6 and I think that may be pushing it.

I'm looking for a place we can park, eat, then walk to the dome. I'm teetering between Herbsaint and Ramblas personally. I just sent this list to my DC for the evening so I'm not sure on his opinion yet.

Herbsaint

I feel you'll have the smoothest sailing if you go there.

Just a gut feeling. ;)

Mila fits the bill. A reasonable walk, free parking (as long as you have dinner) at the P'ere Marquette, and, best of all, a great meal that does not have to be too heavy if you don't want it to be.

I think I would use their 4 o'clock opening time as an excuse to try Luke. I've been wanting to try it in spite of the slow service stories I've heard.

This particular DC and I have been to Luke several times, so we wanted to try something else this time. I'm leaning towards Herbsaint. Funny enough, he just said Herbsaint or Las Ramblas in a close second.

I'm still anxious to try MiLa but I think I'd like to save that for an evening when I can have a couple courses and try more things.

You'll have a great experience at MiLa, I'm sure. I was there recently with the Misses and another couple. The service could not have been better.
Without sounding like a food snob, the entire dinner was supurb. Everyone really enjoyed their dinner. I could eat the scallops every day. Wow.
One of the finest dining experiences I've ever had.
So yeah....maybe that's not a pre-game dinner. You'll want to take your time, then you'd end up missing the 1st half. ;)

So, JAG, which did you choose? Hope it was fun.

I'm wondering, what is the "bistro" menu at Herbsaint. They don't list it and I've never been. I've never heard of a "grazing" menu either. Are only salads and apps available or the whole menu?
Now this is more like it.

You might also consider Leonardo's, the Italian place next door to Herbsaint (wasn't it? Where you and I had the drink after the Saints/TB game). My one dinner experience there was very good and very affordable.

I thought about that place Duke, but really didn't want to fill up on pasta and red wine...too sleep inducing for me.

Dragongrrl...it's Monday night :)

Well let me know when you decide then.

JAG, it seems like either you are extremely tired on Mondays, something I can relate to, or you're expecting a really dull game. Hope it's the first.
