Message from Karen and Horst at Middendorf's

Post by Jeeves »

Got this tonight in email from the Pfeifers:
GET YOUR MIDDENDORF’S FIX :)

We may not have much say in the choice of calling our devastating economic situation a bailout or rescue, but you still have your say in whether you want the THICK OR THIN at MIDDENDORF’S and you’ll have it soon. In less than 7 days, on Wednesday, October 8 we will re-open at 10:30 am. We will be returning to our normal hours of operation, 10:30 am – 9:00 pm and to our normal schedule, Wednesday through Sunday.

Returning to work means more than income for most of the staff, the management and Horst and I. I found out with Katrina that I like rules, regularity and consistency in my life. I’m not as carefree as I always thought I was. All we want is to be able to offer our family of employees, our staff an opportunity to get back to what we and they considered normal (but really what is normal?). We miss them, we miss our customers, their stories, their love of Middendorf’s. I can’t wait to hug our first customer and thank them for their loyalty.

Please help us get the word out to the world, our world, here in South Louisiana. Let them know that we are back and truly look forward to working, to serving them, to creating more memories for years to come.

We are still working on the plans for the original building and will keep everyone informed as we move forward with the big decisions that lie ahead. Please know that our goal is to continue with the tradition of Middendorf’s, not only the food but the ambiance and décor. Cypress wall, cypress knees, etc, etc will all be a part of the rebuild.

We look forward to seeing you at Middendorf’s. Say hello when you come and thank you for your support over the last 5 ½ weeks.

God Bless,

Karen & Horst Pfeifer

And God Bless you, Karen and Horst for the thoughtful update on how things really are in getting up and running again!

THAT is the reality of all this constant rebuilding. It takes the commitment and desire to get through all of these road blocks to get up and running again to provide what was taken for granted before the event.

Thank YOU so much for rebuilding! Things will only get better! Your patrons, and, I am sure your employees, appreciate everything you are doing.

Middendorf's Forever!

That is great news, we seem to lose a traditional restaurant every month, glad to have one roar back. I might have to play hooky and run over for lunch next week.

I just found out a few days ago about the damage to the restaurant. My wife ate there with a friend a few weeks before Gustav and loved it. I am so glad you are able to reopen and so soon.

I think the first time I ate at your establishment was when I was six. My mother felt it was mandatory :)

I will be seeing y'all soon.
