I will be back, but Charlie's was the place and the people more than the food for me. If the steaks are still good, we will be there often. They better still serve AB's spumoni or I will be pissed! I will miss the people.

I will also miss the people and the grease! I imagine that they actually had to clean the place, and those pictures, if they survived, will now be identifiable instead of two smears of hazy globulatic forms on the walls. Maybe one of them is Tomato's prom pic...

Waiter: "What kinda dressing on that salad"

Diner: "1000 Island"

Waiter: "You wish"!

I can't wait to go back.

My favorite was repeated often during lunch, mainly from female patrons who had never been there before:

T-bone or filet!

May I see a menu please?

No menu! T-bone or filet!

I would really like to see a menu

No menu! T-bone or filet?

I would really like to see a mneu please!

Filet for you!.............................................................................

So now that they've been up for a while, any reviews? I have only heard second hand that most things were as they were and the steaks are great. What a time warp that place was.

We went a few weeks ago for my husband's birthday. I don't know why but I don't remember the bar being to the left. I thought it was straight ahead. Been years since I was there though.
The steaks were wonderful. Mine was pink in the middle with so little blood oozing that it didn't hit the plate when I sliced it. Just the way I like it. I ordered medium rare. Hubby always gets medium well and his was perfectly cooked for his taste too.
We got the onion rings and they come in that big pile but these looked like they weren't shaken in the grease. It was sort of one big clump but still good to peel them off and eat them. The mushrooms seem much smaller than I remember but I didn't go for mushrooms.
We went early and by the time we left at 6:45, there was already a line out the door. Glen was busy but charming as usual. And Brad that worked at the Shack years ago, was our waiter.
Will definitely be returning.
