Gratitude

Post by Pelican Six »

Has anyone been listening to 870 AM's interviews with returning evacuees? They manage to pop the soft, milky government teat out of their mouths long enough to complain about everything, from the food, to the shelter, to the method of transportation to the length of the trip. Unbelievable.

These are the ones who were put up in public buildings, with rows of cots, and both inside toilets and outside port-a-johns, like going camping - a popular American pastime.

They wanted rooms in the Hilton, Marriot, etc. Poor things.

I think they were all just pi$$ed off that they didn't get the $2000 Visa debit card this time. (In addition to the swanky hotel room and paid rent for a couple of years, of course.)
Forget the apple - a café au lait a day keeps the doctor away!

Some are writing to ask for $1,000 for reimbursement of hotel rooms because the red cross shelter where they were evacuated only paid for 3 days (after the shelters filled) I am sure now that the shelters are empty enough and people are coming back they can move from the hotel to the shelter? No that would not make them any money! It irks my last nerve that people "make money" while evacuating and some last time never even evacuated and still claimed all the "free money" they could get. At least this time, receipts are "supposedly" going to be required. Can I mail in my 5 days of gas receipts for my generator? I doubt that, but if I had evacuated to a ac/swimming pool/beach hotel room I probably could.

I want to know who told them to fill their evacuation kits with posterboard and markers.

Glad to see she kept her smokes dry. That's very important.

If they didn't like the porta-potties, maybe next time we can issue one entrenching tool per family and they can dig a cathole or slit trench to do their necessary.

Also no one seems skinny or suffering from malnutrition.

I appreciate your attitude and hard work. Entrenching tools and catholes is why I am a Navy veteran. Bravo Zulu to you and your crew. I wish you well.

Thanks for the kind words.
