Went to Saints/Dolphins Game Tonight...
I have not been to the Dome for a Saints game in maybe 5 years.
Our neighbors had season tickets and offered them....good seats - club level, 50 yard line.
Thankfully it was only about 50% in attendance.
The seats seemed cramped like a cheap airline coach seat.
I could not hear what was being said over the PA at all....If we were not directly under some press box where I could overhear the announcer I would not have ever known what was going on.
Draft beer: $7
I think I like my couch and my own cooking/bar...to watch the Saints.

And the winner was...........

As John Wayne once said: "Life's tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid."

Actually Miami won 14-10.
Saints QB Palko got chased around and sacked a lot.
Duece looked good.
I think a lot of people at the game do not really care what's going on on the field.
Young people all around us were either text messaging or just partying with no interest in the game.
I'll stick to TV for the rest of the season.

It's preseason. And the last preseason at that. Only scrubs play. It's a social occasion and no one (including the players and coaches) really care about the outcome of the game. Most of the people there got their tickets for free because tickets holders give them away. I had three tickets no one wanted and there were people outside the dome who couldn't give them away. Regular season is a whole different experience.

Jerry...were you on the visitor's side?
That's where I was (sect 312) and you described the atmosphere perfectly.
I'm curious to know who made the bonehead decision to carry "MovieTime Popcorn" in a bag...like a potato chip bag-Instead of having regular stadium popcorn. It was NASTY. Imagine making popcorn, then putting it in a zip loc for a month. I hope that's a temporary thing.
I thoroughly enjoyed my $7 Abita Amber draft beer.
The game was a snooze fest. The 1/2 time stuff was best...the guy catching all 3 passes in that Wendy's? CocaCola? game was awesome. The little kids were a hoot, too. We left w/ a bout 10 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.
C'mon Tampa!

they've really wrecked the concessions, even as a bad as they were last year. Besides the popcorn, the nachos (guilty pleasure) now come with prepackaged cups of cheese (as opposed to having the cheese ladeled on the nachos). Extra cheese (another cup) is $5.
I don't get too concerned about $7 beer as it's one of (if not THE) cheapest beer in the league. It sucks that Amber isn't more prevalent and that vendors are now required to pour their beers in a cup (which affects their efficiency, your ability to carry multiples and increases your chance to spill) - this is a new league rule. I also understand that you can no longer buy double-shots of liquor at the bar.
Sigh.

I thought it was a little weird that they showed Obama's acceptance speech on the Diamond Vision, but whatever...

I didn't see that although I admit I left mid-3rd q. The game must have really been tanking to show that!peychaud wrote:I thought it was a little weird that they showed Obama's acceptance speech on the Diamond Vision, but whatever...
I DID see Bob Breck dressed in a Saints jersey giving a weather/hurricane update.
Brought back memories of Katrina. In fact, it was not until after that game when we were having a burger at Rivershack that I saw for the 1st time that New Orleans was now in the cone of probability.
Last night's game was everything I expected with the exception of Shockey not playing.
I will go on record here to say that I think Coach Payton, as much as I like the guy, is a liar. I really don't think he had any intention of playing Shockey and the build up was just to get butts in the seats.
This fits Payton's MO.
Now the team is evacuating to IND. Not great for prepping before a huge season opener against the Bucs, but better than the alternative of being distracted all week by Gustav and the media that keep telling us not to panic but then do everything but scream "Run!" on the airwaves. LOL

I missed the game to pack. But I did watch it on tv...the first half..after that I couldn't even fake my interest.
I can't wait for the Tampa game though. Can't wait!
Anyone want to go..I'm pretty sure I have an extra ticket still...

What section do you sit in JAG?
Of course, if you don't want to disclose that so as not to tip off your fan club and risk getting mobbed I will understand.
We're in 613 and tailgate off of O'Keefe.
