The Country Club

Post by BTG »

Some of you have posted about dining at this place. Brett Anderson gave it a less than glowing review in the paper today.
In addition to a few food complaints, he seemed to have had problems with the "environment". LOL!

In my personal opinion, if you are going to have 'issues' being in a gay environment, than just don't go. If you don't like Emeril, you don't go to Emeril's right?

It's a great place, if you like the sort of place it is. I have a membership to the club, so obviously it doesn't bother me at all. I love the pool area and the people are so much fun.

Of course, you don't need to see the pool area if you just want to go to dinner, but it's all in the same building, you're going to be surrounded by gay men, you should know that going into it.

I like the food. Everything is fresh, the portions are perfect and the prices are what they should be IMO.

That place is for weirdos. I got talked into going there once by a girl and that was the last time.

I disagree that the place is for 'weirdos' but for people who are comfortable in their skin.

Don't call me names please, it's rather unbecomming.

it is one thing to be surrounded by gay men...it is another to be surrounded by nekkidness, which has been my experience in the bar and multi-stall unisex bathroom, which is adjacent and open to the dining rooms.
folks need to know what to possibly expect in that environment. the restaurant wants to be respected as such, but diners should not feel as though they have to cock block throughout their meal...one can only imagine which rule of Defensive Dining this entails.
that all said, I wanted to like the place and wanted to enjoy the food and give it a chance. it was not to be.

Oh EC, it's definitely not for everyone. I totally agree.

I just took offense to the guy who called me a weirdo for liking the place. I'm a member, if that makes me a weirdo to him then so be it.

Yeah, I think I will pass also. If I want to see the nudes while I am dining, I am going to buy a lucky dog and go into Ricks Caberet.
