Lack of activity on this board

Post by BTG »

Is this thing going to slowly die? Are there any efforts being made to attract new visitors?
The people who post here and the subject matter involved is very good, so I hope things workout.
I will not go to Tom's site, so it is either this board or TOB for me.

It's worse on TOB.

It would make sense that if the restaurants are slow, the food boards will be slow.

At least I hope that's it.

Exactly! Slowest restaurant time should generate slowest forum time in theory.

Not sure of the connection, if any, but a hopelessly-clogged kitchen drain Sunday evening, and no plumber until Monday or Tuesday, forced Mrs. Slow & I down the street to a neighborhood joint that's usually impossible at most times to even find a parking spot. The lot was virtually empty, to the point we both remarked, "Are they closed today?" They weren't, but it was just us and two other tables. Same for weekday lunch yesterday-- a place with normally a 10-15 minute wait had more employees than customers. Strange. Maybe everyone's out driving around on "cheap" $3.59/gal. gas.

unless there is a TV in the restaurant, I'm watching the Olympics and cooking at home. though I did watch the opening ceremonies at the bars of Pascal's Manale and Clancy's. good food, good drink, and USA!
After Mon & Tues, even the calendar says W-T-F!

2 great bars to watch TV and eat, especially by oneself are Clancy's and Ralph's, particularly for appetizers. Clancy's wins on wine selection, beer selection and better food, but Ralph's is a short walk home.

I doubt that the doldrums of summer has anything to do with it. Tom Fitzmorris's forum seems to be attracting a lot of posts, easily 4 or 5 times the number of this site and the TOB combined if you just count the food forum posts. That number is in spite of the outrageous number of posts Tom is deleting. His edits of posts are also quite unbelievable. I suspect that the number of posters he has banned is beginning to become large. Besides his quick use of banning, Tom's compulsion to delete and edit anything that undermines his warped view of the universe and his self proclaimed authority in almost all fields of endeavor must eventually be his undoing. Several prolific posters on his site have expressed displeasure with his antics before he deleted the posts, but there is at least one of those by Yankee Child that Tom has so far overlooked. Besides, a forum that deletes so many points of view will surely become so boring that no one will bother, especially since, if you are interested in Tom's views, you can read just his newsletter without having to put up with his blathering sycophants and "Tom Sez" or "Tomment" remarks.

My point is that the number of New Orleans food forums may have finally reached the saturation point with the finite number of posters being spread over too many sites.

DELETE.

If you are going to edit my post, then I don't feel the need to post.
