Hey Lorin...

Post by Jerry »

I finally happened across your radio food show today.
Are you going to be there for any length of time?

Are you prohibited from posting on this forum?

...just curious as I cannot post on the NewOrleans.com forums anymore.
They will not answer my numerous emails to get a working password again.

Hey Jerry - Of course I'm not prohibited from posting here!!! I'm sorry you're having problems with getting your password woes sorted out at neworleans.com - I'll see what buttons I can push.:whip:

As to your other question - Yes, I plan to be at WIST as long as they'll have me. But I must know, why do you ask? I was at WRNO for almost 2 years before I chose to make the jump and I did so because of WIST's dedication to local programming. That's not a dig at WRNO, just that I think it's a better fit for me at WIST.

Lorin

P.S. Thanks for tuning in!!

My first time this morning too. I have no idea what time your show is on. I heard you speaking with GS for a few minutes this morning.

The show airs Saturdays from 9 - 11am on AM690. Glad you caught a wee bit this morning and here's to hoping that next (and every ;)) Saturday you'll get to listen to the whole shee-bang.

I really enjoy Lorin's show but I can't catch it, I work out from 9-11:30 on Saturdays. Sometimes I skip the final class so I can catch the last half hour;)

Lorin - any chance of pod casts coming in the future?

FWIW, I think WIST has a better local programming line-up now than WWL and I think WIST is poised to be the next top New Orleans talk radio station. I think WWL is prime for de-throning. Their morning show has no appeal (one host is very bitter, the other does nothing but asks questions and says "Oooohh, yeah" way too much). I think Garland Robinette is SHARP AS A TACK and the best radio mind on the dial in NOLA but I think his health might be slipping and unfortunately its tough to listen to him struggle through his sentences at times, Spud....well lets just leave that one alone. The only thing they have going for them really is Bobby Hebert who they paired with a guy who was reading Tulane Baseball stats just a few years back (no offense, NBB). I think it is their affiliation with LSU and the Saints that's even keeping a pulse over there. Outside of sporting events, WWL used to be 75% of my radio time. Now it is less than 10%.

I don't even listen to WWL for the news anymore.

WIST does need to get rid of Mancow and get some local flavor in the morning, though.

Podcasts are up and running at http://www.wistradio.com (tool bar on the left), as is streaming.

I'm not lovin' the Mancow all the time either, but he is highly rated and has a pretty serious listening audience across the country (much to my surprise). That said, everyone at WIST has commented to our GM about having local morning talk...
