Pizza, VERY GOOD

Post by sillygentilly »

Ya'll,

I just had one of the BEST three slices of pizza ever in N. O.(Metairie) Special, thin crust from That's Amore, behind Walgreen's on West Esplanade & Clearview. Never paid attention to the new place. WOW, this pizza was excellent. Salad needs a lot of work but not too bad. Thought this place was owned by Caffe! Caffe! people but was wrong. New restauranteurs. Nice owners who I do not know. Would love for the pizza freaks like me to try. no idea of the hours. Never been into the place, just had it at a friends house two hours ago.

Thanks for the tip Silly. We'll have to add it to our list for Pizza Tour 2008, 09, and 10. However long it takes, we'll get there. What other places do you like?

Slicey,

Put Fellini's on your list too. On Carrollton about a block from City Park Ave. Right across from Pandora's Sno-Balls.

We like Fellini more than Reginelli's Lakeview and La Vita, but I wouldn't call it exceptional. It's got the same crust you find at almost every pizza place in New Orleans--that bready, chewy crust. I've always called it the Cafe Roma style crust. I don't have a big problem with it, but it's not the same as a good thin crust.

Does anybody remember Pie in the Sky? Now that was a great pizza place.

Sugar Park Tavern in Bywater. A bit too much cornmeal, but still my favorite.
