Props to SLICE

Post by ratcheese »

My wife and I were at Whole Foods the other day and I decided to walk across the street to check out SLICE. I had never tried it but had heard good things about it.

I ordered a single slice of plain cheese to go. $2.74 with tax.

The cook brought it out to me and showed me where he had torn off a little bit of the tip when he removed it from the oven and told me to go ahead and munch on that while he heated up another slice for me take out.

I like that. They have pride in what they're doing. And the pizza was nice imo.

I know Paz and some others from the Northlands are always in search of better pizza down here and I wonder if SLICE satisfies their cravings...I thought it was very good but I didn't grow up eating good quality pizza.

Props to the professional attitude at SLICE.

I've only been to the one on St Charles, but I really like it and I'm not even a fan of pizza per se. It's lighter, and not so greasy, loaded down and heavy as most pizza. The "white" pie, and the "fresh"...has a brush of olive oil instead of sauce.

I brought home two pizzas to go from Tower of Pizza Monday. Great pie, even after a 40 minute ride home.

Hey Art,

was in Wildwood a couple of years ago. The pizza on the boardwalk is still great, but there's been a bit of inflation!

Slice has pretty good pizza IMO. We used to eat there a lot when my step-son managed the St. Charles location. It is not the answer for a diehard NY pizza lover, but what is? I have been to Brooklyn Pizza several times and have not been very impressed.

Neither Slice nor Brooklyn float my boat these days. Both are adequate, but neither are particularly good.

Personally, Pizza Delicious has no equal. Tower and Dough Bowl used to be the best in town till these Bywater folks started their Sunday's only operation. Ciro's, Pizza Man, and Nino's will also do in a pinch.

And yes, I realize I am an arrogant NY pizza snob ;)

It alright to be an arrogant snob, just don't get into the critic business. Its tough going over there.

Im really looking forward to it, just hope I dont get shut out, I cant make it over there until around 7. Saw on his blog that they were making your special sauce. Was that you they were referring to? And what's the sauce all about?

Slicey, you can call you order in when they get started and just tell them you wont be there to pick up til whenever. That way you make sure you get one.
