Sign linking lack of oysters to oil spill was unauthorized, Parkway owner says

"We don't have oysters on our menu right now," Nix said, but it's because management decided to remove them "until the price and other things settle out...There's a limit to what we can charge our customers."

Reads like a backpedal, but they took the sign down. I credit Nix for saying he doesn't want to gouge customers with the price increase.

It is May, the oyster specials usually dry up in the non-R months. And there were oyster beds closed before the spill.
Any one hear Frank Davis this morning? Said his grilled fish next week would be pre-greased. :covri:

Deepwater Horizon has been in place for 9 years, with a history of prior trouble (http://www.nola.com/news/gulf-oil-spill ... _hist.html). Not clear how this is the current administration's fault, other than because everything is to those who hate the President.

I think I've seen those at World Market. I get my hubby anchovy stuffed olives from there.

Kinda like the way you and your ilk blamed Bush for everything. It is pretty clear that Obama flush with BP's campaign cash took a hands off approach the containment of the oil spill and never activated the plan put in place to mitigate the disaster. But other than that, he's done a bang up job.

Laura, how does Mike use the anchovy stuffed olives?
I have more than a few cans & want some new ideas.

I've used them in a putanesca style sauce & a paella sort of dish.

As far as oysters go, May is definitely the time when you see specials disappear.

I'm thinking that they'd be killer in a martini!
