AYCE King Crab!
Uncle Lee-Bird and I hit up the Red Maple (Gretna) last night for the AYCE king crab. The price is $24.95 and it's worth every penny. The crab were cooked perfectly and were delicious. They were also HUGE! I have never in my life seen king crab this big (in person). The corn and potatoes were really good too...but I don't each much of those as to save more room for the crab! This could easily become a weekly habit!

RiverPond has something on their chalk board about these yesterday. call ahead to see if they are serving.
on another note:I'm told they will start serving oysters on the half shell next month.

After Mon & Tues, even the calendar says W-T-F!

My daughter called RM six times tonight trying to find out what time they start serving the $10.95 Lobster Dinner on Wednesdays. Never could get an answer, as I guess they were busy serving dinner. She LOVES Lobster, and at that price, she can come out ahead from her regular dining options. They were also doing $ .25 Raw/$ .50 Charbroiled Oysters two night a week. Hard to beat those prices.

Lobster used to be 5:3- - 6pm or so. Yes, that is what I was told.Oyster wrote:My daughter called RM six times tonight trying to find out what time they start serving the $10.95 Lobster Dinner on Wednesdays. Not sure now, but as they were waiting on a plane to come in with the fresh lobsters, I don't see how it would be any different now.
Not much changes at the RM.

I didn't know the oyster special was 2 days a week. I go almost every Thursday. They are really good. Not as good as Drago's...but still good.

Oops! You are right Niki. I confused it with Boudreaux's on Lapalco that has the oyster special on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I don't recommend theirs though. I don't like oysters that come in a box.nikinik wrote:I didn't know the oyster special was 2 days a week. I go almost every Thursday. They are really good. Not as good as Drago's...but still good.

Just Thursdays at Red Maple.
Re: AYCE King Crab!
I forgot to give my daughters review of her Lobster Dinner.
Said she enjoyed it, with one exception. They had ladled drawn butter over the whole lobster (also had the traditional dip cup). She didn't appreciate trying to work on the claws with butter fingers. The tail was split in half, so that was easy for her to handle. She did mention how much she prefers when I am there to handle the critters for her. They allowed her and her boyfriend eat at 4:30, although the normal start time for the speical is 5:00.
Overall, can't really complain about a $10 Lobster Dinner! May have to get one myself!

Re: AYCE King Crab!
Thanks for letting us know! I haven't been for the lobster special YET...but I will. We hit up the AYCE king crab again Monday and they were huge and delicious, as usual!
