they moved to:
Location:
710 South Carrollton Ave.
New Orleans, LA, 70118
Phone:
504.324.6640
Mon - Thurs:
11:00 am - 9:00 pm
Fri - Sat:
11:00 am - 10:00 pm
Sun:
11:00 am - 9:00 pm

they'll be open Mardi Gras at 4pm.
You know, I have never been in that place and we are up there all the time; we live in the neighborhood and go to Walgreen's, Hana, etc., but I never think about Saltwater because their atmosphere looks so blah from outside, just like their predecessor's did.

That has to be one of the best locations in town, due to the parking and other draws around there but for some reason they put zero energy into their atmosphere. The right people would kill in that spot.

did you ever go to Chef's Corner, previously in that spot? a friend ate there and enjoyed it but I never made it there.

Yes I did, the food was good but the atmosphere just didn't call me back. Those were the same people that have that place down in the Quarter, I'm forgetting the name right now...their sign has a black steer on it...been there forever...I'll think of it in a day or two. ha

I just had a dozen at 10 p.m. at Felix. I walked in, ate them, and drank a beer while I watched dozens of people standing in line at Acme, for what reason, I do not know. It's the same oysters, just no waiting. And I am not one for crowds. Go to Felix for oyster bar. I have also found this season to be about the least salty I can remember. I blame the rains.

For cooked, I like to hit Remoulade. It is at 309 Bourbon, just past Bienville, across from Desire Restaurant in the Royal Sonesta , which I have never cared for. Remoulade is the causal wing of Arnauds Restaurant, and you can get some great oyster dishes served right out of Arnaud's kitchen. They also have a small oyster bar, and other casual foods.

Our trip to NO is over and now just a memory; thanks to you who recommended Luke for their oysters; they were the best I've ever had, and my husband is still talking about them! While there, I also had their fried oyster, avocado, and bacon salad...outstanding!
