Mrs. Slow & I count among our more memorable meals one at Odyssey on Argonne many years ago, on the occasion of our anniversary. A different wine paired with each course-- appetizer, salad, and entree-- and the total bill before tax and tip was just under $100.

For nostalgia sake, at the end of the 1950's:
Tony & Pete's Hoagie Hut, on US 13, one mile north of the Philadelphia city limits (known as City Line). Their unmatched (in my lifetime) 15 inch lunch meat hoagie, loaded with meat including boiled ham, various salamis, capicola, cheese, Jersey tomatoes, piled high with onions (they would load the automatic lunch meat slicer with grapefruit sized Bermuda Sweet Onions, sliced extremely thin), secret vinagrette, for the stagering sum of 35 cents.
Take the same roll, load it with the thin sliced fried steaklettes, melted cheese, and fried thin sliced onions, a heavenly Philadelphia Cheese Steak, even more expensive at 50 cents.
If I could make one trip in a TIME MACHINE, this would be it!

Hey guys!!! So there are quite a few familiar screen names from TF's forum on here:) I like this forum already....it is alittle less stuffy here.
Anyway, I can't believe nobody has mentioned Uglesich's. They had the best fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade. Also, I miss Maple Gardens, a quaint chinese restaurant.
