New Restaurants

Post by justagirl »

Since I'm impatient, I don't follow the 6 months rule. There were quite a few new restaurants that opened this year. Some I loved, some I disliked, some I'm not ready to try yet. Where did you go and enjoy?

Green Goddess: Only went for lunch once but loved it.
Le Meritage: Plan to go as soon as I can.
La Foret: Giving this one 6 months...or more.
Domenica: Food was pretty good, service was lacking.
American Sector: Haven't tried it yet but plan on going to lunch soon.
Coquette: Probably the closest to my house yet I never think to go there. Will try it soon.
A Mano: Enough said there...
Royal Palm: Totally off my radar...no interest.
Coulis: A decent breakfast joint. I go mostly because I know everyone there. It's not the best breakfast but it's definitely good enough.
Sweet Gals: just kidding.

A few restaurants I finally discovered this year are O'Brien's, Ciro's Cote Sud, and Cake Cafe (thanks largely to this board). I've been to Ciro's as often as I've been to a Mano! Are there any 'new to you' discoveries this year?

Cafe Equator is new to me again, after a 5yr absence on my part. Still rocks the curries, especially the red from the authentic menu.

And Dockside is my new go to for raw oysters as it's in the hood. And they remembered what I drank and ate after only one visit. It's good to be remembered.

Felice Anno Nuovo!

I forgot to mention Jackson. Brunch there was great and so are there burgers, especially with truffle fries. The stuffed cookies for dessert are sinfully wonderful. There's a lot on the menu; a place easy to please everyone in your group.

And then there's Catch which I saw a good review for today....I disagree.

And Rum House which I have simply forgotten about already.

The hearts of palm salad at Lillette...never had other than canned ones before. A true revelation! Could have eaten 2 of them at one sitting...

What are the burgers like at Jackson? I was in that area today thinking of lunch. I had a muffin & espresso instead.

JAG, I might mention Thanh Thanh as a new place you tried.
I know it was just breakfast, but I happen to think their breakfasts are excellent & it is definitely a go to place for us, B, L or D!

Sorry Jason! I can believe it's only been a year. I mean, I'm there at least once a week.
But in that vein I'll have to add my discovery of Cajun Grill too.

Happy Anniversary Jason!

Happy Anniversary, Jason! No way it's just been one year!

We come in often enough it seems like you've been around forever!

:toast: to City Diner!

Thanks for doing what it seems no one else wants to do . . .
be open for 24 hours! You make it so easy for us late nighters!
I know it must not be easy to be open for 24 hrs, but you've done it for a year!
Congrats!

We really should start a new thread for this!
