What'd ya get for Christmas in the food/wine genre?

Post by Gourmondo »

I got a new Glühwein set from Germany - can't wait to try it out on a cold night! A friend in north Mississippi sent some really fresh candied pecans. A Middle Eastern friend gave me some killer baklava and other assorted sweets. Brother sent me wine as usual. I gave him a Besh restaurant certificate in return. Mom sent me some meats and brats from a smokehouse in New Braunfels, TX. I gave her the Besh cookbook.

Last year I got mostly food/kitchen stuff, this year I got A waffle iron, ramekins, cool set of measuring spoons and a bottle of The Prisoner. Before Christmas some friends sent me a wine basket so maybe that counts too, but I think it was more of a thank you sort of thing.

3 gifts of nuts, chocolate & some imported little light airy cakes with fruit.

We gave gift certificates to Banana Blossom Thai Restaurant to 4 family members.

Some Godiva Chocolate, a set of scotch tasting glasses (which I didn't know existed) and a few bottles of wine,

ohh...and a Besh Gift Certificate.

Coffee bean grinder, cheese board, john besh's cookbook, which looks surprisingly good. But my best gift came early. I got the best dining companion/date/partner in crime, a guy could ask for.

Bam, that cookbook is awesome. I got it as a birthday gift and have cooked a few things from it, all have been great.

Got a Silpat, a couple new heavyweight half-sheet pans, some banana chocolate chip bread, a basket of LA Sweet oranges, and a tin full of sweets (pralines, fudge, heavenly hash, etc) from my s-i-l that's already been devoured.

I received a Martin Wine Cellar gift card, 6 pack of Abita Christmas ale, wine aerator, a bag of Starbucks Christmas blend beans and last but not least, a bag containing three filets with a pack of bacon.

I also got a fire pit and have spent the past two nights sitting out by that sucker while drinking lots of wines and spirits. Of course the kids have been roasting marshmellows and making smores.

A Martin Wine Cellar gift card (from a student), a Zea's gift card (from a student), some Starbuck's gift cards (from a student), an Acropolis gift card (from my brother), a Ralph's/Bacco/Redfish Grill gift card ($100 from wife's aunt--woo-hoo!), and various homemade goodies (from students).
