Bar Food

Post by jimbeaux »

So an old college buddy is in town and we are going out for a few drinks after 8:30pm or so tonight. We want to hit a few spots that have both good drink (preferably good beer on tap) and excellent bar food. Not looking for a full meal. I consign the dives of our youth to their greasy cheese fry depths, so am not tempted by the pub grub of the college bars. Anything better, either Uptown or in the Quarter?

Well, if Cooter Browns doesn't work for you there's the Pub on the Avenue where you can get good beer and J'anita's food.

I love the food and the vibe at Deja Vu.... across from the Prince Conti. :toast:

belly up to the bar at Luke for local oysters and beer. the menu is quite good, and many things can be bar food. I love making my way thru their apps at the bar.

Bourbon House carries Abita Select on tap and you can eat fresh shucked oysters.

The bar at Ralph's On the Park is nice, but I haven't tried the latest incarnation of their menu.

EDIT; oops, no draft beer. didn't see that.

I'd definately suggest Avenue Pub/J'Anita's. The food is good and the beer selection looks very good. They have a number of "small plate" type things which are something to munch on but not a full meal. Give it a try and tell us how it was.

Thanks. Didn't make it to Avenue Pub but had lots of raw erysters at Cooters. Tried the Magnolia Brewery Jefferson Stout on tap, but I didn't like it as much as the Pecan. A pitcher of Andygator sent my friend scurrying back to NYC with a hangover this morning.
