Damn, I miss that place! They used to (when they were the Crazy Cajun, I'm assuming it's the same owner) have the absolute BEST crab bisque I had ever eaten. Fun at the bar as well. Owner was, as his partners in crime called him, "the black sheep of the Landry family", quite the character. Came in once bragging about his new $400 rod and reel he had just bought and was showing it to everyone just before he accidently got the top 6" cut off by one of the ceiling fans.wish I never left wrote:Had a great dozen at the Mardi Gras Grill here in Houston Thursday... Man, were they nice and salty.

Re: Arrrrrrrgh!
Spent many nights at Mardi Gras Grill in the Heights during my Texile in 2005. The barmaids were a hoot (actually, tons of fun). Don't they make fried jalapeño slices there? Seem to remember (blurrily) buffalo shrimp as well. Good raw oysters, to stay on topic.
The Heights is the best area in Houston. Art cars, ice houses, Dan Electro's Guitar Bar, and that big Tipitina's-type music club made my stay there enjoyable, considering the circumstances.
And then I had sex.

Last year the Pub hosted Pyrate week, and Felix Fest ( to benefit Officer Felix's family). Fun times.
Pyrate week is different from The Pirate convention, and usually runs the 2 weeks before the Piratecon.
