Bam decided to treat me like the queen I am and cook dinner while I was feeling terrible but there was good SEC football going on I wanted to watch. He picked us up two beautiful rib eyes while I napped on the sofa. Bam made his (should be) world famous congac mushroom cream sauce, purple potatoes and green beans. We had to go to Bordeaux to watch football since it was the only place you could get the LSU game in HD.
Bam first opened a 2005 Chateau Damase which he decanted but it didn't help. It did get rid of the aftertaste a little but not enough to make a difference. For $15 it was ok, but we're not going to buy it again. (and by we, of course I mean him.) But up next with the rib eye was the 2005 Chateau Lyonnat. The difference between these two wine was difference between Troy Polammu's and Mr Clean's hair. The Lyonnat was deep, great dark color, nice complexity. Decanted for about an hour but 30 min would have been fine. Held up nicely with the steak dinner.
For the Marquez-Mayweather fight we have a nice Malbec. I already had a brownie for dessert, but I'll let you know if there is more....

I thought the first wine was beyond horrible. Decanting helped but it was pretty much like opening a natural disaster. The difference was fairly notable when we opened the Lyonnat. The smell of it was amazing. It had a great color almost ruby-like. It had a good complexity to it but it did lose its oomph about 40 minutes into it.
