Dessert, Anyone?
Dessert, Anyone?
How often do you include dessert* with a restaurant meal?

There's nothing euphemistic about the "other" dessert. It's not like they're trying to "candy coat" the meaning.....

OK, as opposed to the metaphoric, then.
Re: Dessert, Anyone?
I like a bite or two of something sweet after a meal, but I don't want to pay $7-10 for a giant slab of cake when I just want a bite.
They should have sweet amuse bouches for after dinner.

You talking about me?EatinAintCheatin wrote:There's nothing euphemistic about the "other" dessert. It's not like they're trying to "candy coat" the meaning.....

Bam and I were actually talking about this after dinner one night. We normally don't really do dessert, in the restaurant, but for some reason seem to order dessert when we are together. Maybe that's why neither of us can fit into our clothes any more. I think the fact that we started dining together while blueberries were at their peak turned us into dessert ordering folks.
If I am alone I almost never order dessert, but with others I like to share something at the end of the meal.
“I'm sure when Peyton Manning was growing up he always wanted to throw the TD pass that gave the Saints a Super Bowl win," Jorge Arangure wrote. "Now he has."
Re: Dessert, Anyone?
I like the idea of a tiny sweet at the end of a meal. At home, I serve a cheese course and will pass a plate of small chocolates or cookies. I can't remember the last time I ordered a dessert in a restaurant, but I will have a bit of David's sometimes.

I never have room and the desserts are always so big. If I'm with a group, we often split something but two or one, never.
The stupid desserts always look so incredible too.

Now this is more like it.

D I detect a hint of anger? LOL! We rarely get dessert, unless we are going to LaBoca. We save room for dessert there.dragongrrl wrote:I never have room and the desserts are always so big. If I'm with a group, we often split something but two or one, never.

We have passed up tiramisu the last three times we had lunch at Eleven79 because we just couldn't fit in another bite. Maybe one day we'll go just for dessert and coffee!
