Irritating/Endearing Restaurant Quirks
Re: Irritating/Endearing Restaurant Quirks
The waitress at Brigtsen's will hand stuff an olive with an anchovy for your martini if asked.

I had my lipid profile done last week and it's excellent, thank you, so gimme the damn butter!
Part A: Agreed.

Part B: Had blood drawn for my panel 8:00 am yesterday. Do you want to compare numbers, everyone (when my figures come back)?

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I don't like it when all the servers come over so everyone can be served at the same table at once. The production is wasted on me. I don't mind someone putting down a tray and serving one at a time.

I'm with ya on that one, Mrs. F. That nonsense makes me feel like I'm in a synchronized swimming number.Mrs. Fury wrote:I know I'm probably in the minority here but I don't like it when all the servers come over so everyone can be served at the same table at once. I also hate the recitation of the the specials. After a horrible day at the office, when I won't remember all the details anyway, is it really that much of an imposition for you to just attach a 5X10 card of the specials to the menu, like was done in days of yore? If you want to practice rote, fine, but please give me something written to refer to, thanks.
OK, really, I'm done this time, y'all.

I'm with you 100%. Put the damn specials on a piece of paper.

ordered breakfast in a breakfast joint. a half hour later, a breakfast came to me, but it wasn't mine. they took it back, gave it to another table, where it belonged, and then told me they were out of breakfast food.
I was starved by this time. I got a free lunch. nowadays they don't even offer breakfast. guess it wasn't in the picture...
lunch is awesome though, and although the wait is still there, its MORE than worth it...

I agree. I can't stand when you go somewhere and the waiter forgets to tell you the specials then you hear them tell the next table about tonight's specials. If I think about it, I ask.Schuarta wrote:Yes! Yes! Yes!
Another thing I despise is passing off drum as redfish. I've quit even ordering it. I don't know why but it tastes vastly different to me. I've even had the waiter supposedly ask the chef and gotten drum. The last time it happened, I sent it back and refused to pay for it. The manager told me that everyone uses drum now. When I explained that the waiter said he asked the chef, he quickly credited my bill and let me order something else.

I've often asked to see the cheat sheet of specials after a waitperson has just spewed them off. Or I might ask for a repeat. I mean really, sometimes they go so fast - who can remember all of that? I guess it's ok for most people, but we are perhaps a bit more discerning when choosing what we are having for a meal.

I've never been able to figure out why & he really can't explain it
other than to say something silly about it.
PAZ, could you shed some light on this?
BTW, while this does not irritate me in the least (I actually like knowing my server's name), there are other things that do - different strokes.
