We went to Gatlinburg and ate bland, tasteless food. The place is beautiful, but I was astounded at how vanilla everything was foodwise. I didn't really expect anything different, but geez! The Parkway through the center of Gatlinburg has tons of places which all serve the same basic things...ribs, burgers, chicken, spinach and artichoke dip, etc.

I do understand catering to tourists who don't like surprises, but a little creativity would be nice.

We did find one place run by Katrina evacuees that served New Orleans food (red beans and rice, po-boys, etc.). They weren't putting much effort into authenticity.
